Here’s a send-up of a 78 record label
(the musical era I love best) for a
poster when my buddies and I
played at the Borders coffee shop.
We were the Clueless Rose Trio, riffing
off the obscure songster Bayless Rose and
the song title refers to the fact that we
would not be playing any songs by the
equally obscure Dick Justice…both artists
recorded versions of “Old Black Dog Blues”.

Arts & Crafts Woodwork Replacement

By | Uncategorized | No Comments
In this century-old Arts & Crafts style apartment two blocks away from President Barack Obama’s stately Kenwood home, I and an associate have gradually replaced all of the sorely abused mahagony trim with brand new oak. We have also re-cased the windows and put in new door jambs, mimicking the original style with custom milling and construction. Most of the doors have been replaced, though we did not build the doors, only finished and installed them. In addition, we replaced the mantel and designed, built and installed custom benches.

My buddy Matt

Speaking of my buddy Matt, this is a portrait of him, drawn from life sometime in the mid-70’s. He was a boon companion, a generous and warm-hearted soul. He carved out a successful career as a landscrape architorturer in the hostile environs of the southwest. He was a beloved husband and father, utterly devoted to his “girls” and he is sorely missed by all that had the pleasure to know him.
