The main source of the wood is resawn
mahogany taken from the casings and
other trim from a Hyde Park apartment.
I carved an owl on both sides. The dark
lacquered top (veneered MDF) is from
a cheap Chinese piece of crap which
repeatedly fell apart and the drawer is from
a set of three salvaged by my friend Zena.
Thanks, Zena! Thanks, Rick!
We visited with our son (interning at
Earthships outside of Taos) and shopped
and sketched while Ann got a foot massage.
More precisely, the handrailing thereof. Upon
my whim, Marty obligingly drove us up to Nederland
from Boulder. I had visited my old pal Lanka
here 30 (+or-) years ago. We also saw a few
young hippies who later in the day we spied
again in Boulder, playing with the buskers on the mall.
Anne Hills is one of the performers
we saw this summer at Fir and
and a very talented and engaging
performer is she.
Ed also has a vintage steam locomotive which hauls
passengers up to a folk concert venue in the mountains
at Fir, CO, on weekends during the summer.
